Comprehensive Gut Health Test — Innovative Pet Lab

Inconsistent stools, chronic gas, itchy skin, food sensitivities, low energy, mood shifts that don't add up to anything specific — you know something's off, but a routine vet screening hasn't given you the full picture. This is a deeper look: a lab-grade stool analysis measuring the functional markers behind digestion, immune activity, inflammation, and gut barrier strength, so you're working from real data instead of a guess.

Why It Fits the ReWilding Model

Test, don't guess. This test exists for exactly the moments when you want more than "wait and see" — a proactive baseline, or real markers behind symptoms that have never quite resolved. It gives you the insight; what you build on top of it is still yours to decide, ideally alongside your vet and a holistic plan built for your specific pet.

What This Test Measures

This panel from Innovative Pet Lab evaluates:

  • Calprotectin (dog & cat) — a protein released by immune cells during gut inflammation. Elevated levels point to active intestinal inflammation, which can contribute to chronic diarrhea, IBD-type symptoms, discomfort, and poor nutrient absorption.
  • Secretory IgA / sIgA (dog & cat) — the primary immune antibody in the gut lining, reflecting the strength and balance of gut immune defense. Low levels may indicate immune suppression or chronic stress; high levels can signal immune overactivation.
  • Zonulin (dog & cat) — a protein that regulates the tight junctions in the intestinal lining. Elevated zonulin is associated with increased intestinal permeability ("leaky gut"), helping assess gut barrier integrity.
  • Anti-Gliadin IgA (dog & cat) — an antibody that reacts to gliadin, a component of gluten, identifying immune reactivity to gluten-containing grains even in pets without obvious symptoms.
  • Pancreatic Elastase (dog) — a digestive enzyme produced by the pancreas. Low levels suggest impaired enzyme production, which can contribute to maldigestion, nutrient deficiencies, weight loss, and chronic loose stools.
  • Beta-Glucuronidase (dog) — an enzyme produced by certain gut bacteria. Elevated levels are linked to imbalanced gut bacteria and impaired detoxification pathways.

How It Works

  1. Order & receive — the kit arrives with everything needed to collect a small stool sample at home, no clinic visit required.
  2. Register & collect — register your unique kit ID online, collect the sample with the included tools, and prepare it for return shipping.
  3. Lab analysis & results — once received, your pet's sample is analyzed across each biomarker above, with a digital report delivered in 10–14 days including interpretations and next-step recommendations.

What Makes It Different

This is a wider panel than a basic gut check — inflammation, immune function, digestive efficiency, and gut barrier strength measured together in one test, rather than one marker at a time.

Who It's Not Right For

Per the manufacturer, this test is a good fit for pets with frequent digestive upsets, subtle signs of food intolerance or allergy, skin or coat issues potentially linked to gut imbalance, or for anyone wanting a proactive, data-driven baseline for their pet's wellness.

This test provides functional gut markers to help guide nutrition and lifestyle choices. It is not a diagnostic tool and does not replace veterinary care. Always consult your veterinarian regarding medical concerns, diagnoses, or changes to your pet's care plan.
