Why I recommend them

Gussy's Gut isn't a supplement dreamed up by a marketing team chasing the next gut-health trend. It's co-founded by Dr. Ian Billinghurst — the vet who literally wrote the book on raw feeding and coined BARF (Biologically Appropriate Raw Food) decades ago — alongside Rob Ryan, who built the company after his own dog, Gus, got into the trash and paid for it. Cautions — who they're not right for

Rob himself is upfront about this, and I want to be too:

• Not for compromised guts. If your dog is already dealing with yeast overgrowth, histamine intolerance, or mast cell issues, this isn't the place to start. Get those settled first — fermented foods are a great next step once the underlying issue is under control, not a fix for it.
• Fermented foods are naturally higher in histamines. For a histamine-sensitive dog, that can show up as itching, redness, or digestive upset instead of the improvement you're looking for. BUT! Their new Fiber & Fortifier is not fermented, so it works well even for dogs with histamine sensitivities. 
• It's wellness support, not a treatment. Gussy's Gut is designed to support a healthy, balanced gut — it isn't positioned as therapeutic for an active medical issue, and it shouldn't replace a vet's care for one.
• Give it real time. This isn't a same-week fix. Plan on a genuine trial period before judging whether it's working for your dog.

FAQ

Is this a probiotic supplement? Not in the traditional sense. Instead of isolated bacterial strains, it uses whole-food fermentation to deliver a broader mix of prebiotics, probiotics, and post biotics together.

Can I use this alongside kibble? Yes — it's designed to complement any base diet, raw, cooked, or kibble.

Do I need to pick Boost or Sustain, or can I use both? You don't need both at once. Most dogs use one as their base (Boost for a reset, Sustain for maintenance) and can add Youthful Grasses & Sprouts on top if they want extra support.

How long before I see a difference? Give it real time before judging results — this is a gradual, whole-gut process, not an overnight fix.

Is it safe for cats too? While there's nothing in it that would be bad for a cat, they are obligate carnivores and may not need this much plant material.
